Supreme Court Justice Breyer backpedals on Qur’an burning

On September 20, 2010, in Politics, by Insurrection

Stephen BreyerAfter likening burning the Qur’an to yelling fire in a crowded movie theater, Justice Breyer has backed off of his suggestion that it’s time for SCOTUS to re-think restrictions on the First Amendment, now claiming on Larry King that, “Yeah, I said it depends on what analogy you use, but the most one analogous case is that there was — you have the right to burn an American flag as a symbol.”

It’s an incredible statement that Americans have to be relieved that freedom of expression is under fire by the Supreme Court, but one that is true. Let’s hope he doesn’t change his mind again.
